Abstract: Exploration work was carried out on the Bigrlyi Prospect as a vanadium source. Electron microprobe studies of 3 drill core samples have confirmed the presence of a V-bearing nontronite and lesser V-bearing illite clay minerals in the matrix of the uraniferous sections of the Mt Eclipse Sandstone at the Bigrlyi Prospect. Since the V substitutes in the mineral lattice of these extremely fine grained minerals, the V is not recoverable by leaching.
