Abstract: | In October 1992, 268 soil samples were completed. The soil sample program outlined two anomalies. One being on the axial zone and associated with drill tested old working and an untested (max 1368ppb) anomaly to the north. In response to the anomalies outlined by soil sampling, 40 RCP holes to 30 metres depth were drilled (NH19-58), for a total of 1,200m. Analysis of samples were for gold and arsenic and taken every metre. Results were somewhat disappointing with the best intercept being 6m at 1.10 g-t Au from 18-24m in hole NH34. Other intercepts to one metre and greater than 1.0 g-t were encountered but only confirmed the narrow inconsistent nature of the mineralisation. In June 1994 two RCP holes (94NHRC001 and 002) were drilled in an effort to determine geology and mineralisation at depth (greater than 100m vertical depth), this was known as the North Howley Deeps program. Both holes were drilled at -70 degrees to Grid West and to a final depth of 114 metres. Best results were 3m at 0.80 g-t Au from 85m and 3m at 1.13 g-t Au from 110m in hole 94NHRC001. |
