Abstract: | This report should be read in conjunction with the report by R.A. Hooper (CR1994-0679). An exploration programme was conducted over the area known as the Southern leases during February and May 1994. This work covered 5 prospects and consisted of the drilling of 118 RC drill holes for 4,880m and the digging of an 80m costean across the projected axis of the Kohinoor Anticline. Gold mineralisation within the southern leases is structurally controlled and hosted, most of it being fault or shear related except at South Czarina where an argument can be made for some fold related mineralisation. This is reflected by the spotty nature of gold mineralisation on the Southern Leases. On some sections gold assays appear to form moderately west dipping ore shoots. Despite finding anomalous gold mineralisation in many drill holes, and even getting a few ore grade intersections over mineable widths, the results of the drill programme were disappointing. Results indicate that economic mineralisation is unlikely to be found on most of the prospects under the areas drilled. |
