Title: Annual Report EL 6424, 8 May 1992 to 7 May 1993
Title Holder / Company: Ashton Mining
Report id: CR1993-0449
Tenure: EL6424
Year: 1993
Abstract: Although surface trench samples from the anomaly have reported four macrodiamonds no obvious kimberlitic related material has been observed. Also no significant indicator results were reported from drill spoils from shallow RAB holes into the coincident chromite and microdiamond surface halo. However, bulk sample results from streams draining the Merlin anomaly area suggest a significant diamond source possibly in this locality. Testing of the Northern anomaly by diamond drilling also failed to reveal any obvious kimberlitic related rocks. Reconnaissance loam sampling on Grid 4 highlighted several significant microdiamond and chromite indicator anomalies which warranted follow-up. During this reported period, a total of 439 samples were collected and 23 RAB holes and 1 diamond core hole were drilled for a total of 352.59 metres. A programme of RAB drilling, diamond drilling, ground and airborne geophysics, and bulk sampling is planned to locate and test the source of the diamonds recovered from the bulk stream sample.
