Abstract: | The circular feature at the headwaters of Bessie Springs Creek was sampled and the presence of kimberlitic chromites was confirmed. This feature was subsequently tested by 4 shallow RAB holes (total depth 100m) and 1 diamond drill hole. Core from the diamond drill hole showed the circular feature to be a sandstone breccia pipe. Drill spoils from RAB holes recovered abundant chromite and some microdiamonds. Geochemical analysis of clay matrix confirmed an igneous component, which was further substantiated by the analysis of the drill spoils which showed a geochemical response consistent with an intrusive body. |
