Abstract: This report gives the first accurate location of Deanes Mine, Deanes North and Good Hope Mines in the Pine Creek Orogen. These mines were worked for Au-Ag from 1875-1878 and at least 372 tons of ore were milled for a return of 382 oz gold. Two old ore dumps at Deanes North returned up to 18 grams per tonne and 15 grams per tonne Au. 7 kg bulk samples yielded about 1 oz per tonne in agreement with historic production. Gold is visible at Deanes Mine and a sample from the pit floor gave an estimated 1m at 5 grams per tonne Au. This can be traced 350 m south where a trench returned an estimated 5 grams per tonne from a 1.4 m wide quartz reef. Grade and length of reefs suggest a possibility of an open pit and underground mining operation. The area is part of the Finnis River Land Claim.
