Abstract: At the Kohinoor anticline a programme of 10 diamond drill holes was carried out for the purpose of resolving structural complexities of the area and to follow up promising intersections from previous drilling. Drilling aimed mainly at the western limb of the Kohinoor Saddle Reef and Jensen's Fault. The most significant assay intervals obtained were 16.5m at 9.72 grams per tonne Au (Kohinoor Reef) and 9m at 7.70 grams per tonne Au (Jansen's Fault). The mineralisation associated with Jensen's Fault was found to be patchy and high grade only around the intersection of the fault and the anticline. The topography and the dipping nature of the fault make this mineralisation unlikely to be mined economically in isolation. Therefore no further drilling is proposed for the Jensen's Fault. On the other hand drilling is planned for the kohinoor Saddle Reef and the mineralisation at the grit unit in the hanging wall of the fault, which gave an intersection of 15m at 1.16 grams per tonne Au. In August 1988 the area was remapped to increase understanding of the structural controls.
