Abstract: MCN 1014 and MCN 1015 are located within EL 4847, approximately 40 kilometres southeast of Adelaide River. The claim area covers part of the Howley anticline to the north of Cosmo Howley mine. Exploration during the anniversary year to 24 June 1989 included geochemical soil sampling and computer enhancement of geophysical data. The soil sampling program over the claims was continued with a further 68 samples taken and composited into 34 assays. Individual samples were split, one portion being retained at the Northern Gold premises in Adelaide River, and the other composited to give one sample for each 50 metres of traverse. Composited samples were analysed by bulk cyanide extraction (BLEG) method with a detection limit of 0.1 ppb Au. The program identified numerous anomalous Au values of up to 400 ppb. Computer enhancements data gathered in 1987 by aerial survey, including magnetic and radiometric data, were sent to Southern Geoscience in Perth. This company specializes in computer enhancements of data. With the aid of Northern Gold staff, their consultants ' produced eight enhancements, calculated to show the greatest possible information. These were used to aid in interpretation of restructural and stratigraghic mapping.
