Abstract: EL 4868 is located 100km south of Darwin and 10km east of Batchelor. It is accessible from the north via the sealed Batchelor road and from the east via the Stuart Highway. The licence area covers the host stratigraphy of the nearby Rum Jungle uranium-based metal deposits and Sundance-type gold mineralisation. The report describes the second year of tenure exploration programme which has included stream sediment sampling (bulk cyanide leach analyses and AAS analyses) and rock chip sampling, AAS analyses. The second year's programme has included; stream sediment sampling for bulk cyanide leach analyses for gold; stream sediment sampling for AAS analyses for gold; and rock chip sampling for AAS analyses for gold. A total of 65 samples were taken; 26 stream sediment samples and 39 rock chip samples. Field work to date has identified some significant, albiet sporadic results in the drainage channels of the Coomalie Creek. Such isolated results are typical of the Sundance Type deposit identified and successfully mined on EL 4845 and it is hoped these occur on EL 4868. Future exploration will be tailored to further delineate the cause of the gold anomalies in the drainage channels. 'Saturate' sampling will take place as well as percussion and possibly diamond drilling.
