In the fifth year of tenure, a sampling program was undertaken at Area 1 where six bulk samples totaling 62.23 kilograms were obtained from the manganiferous outcrops. The samples were submitted to Amdel Laboratories in Perth to conduct a preliminary investigation on the benefication (Standard Heavy Mineral Seperation) of the anomalous manganiferous zones. Results received from this work suggests that after benefication there appears to be no significant upgrade of the manganese mineral. These results however, can only be considered as preliminary, as they were taken from surface exposure which represents only a small portion of the overall resource potential of the area. Drill evaluation of the manganiferous zones is required before any further testwork is conducted. In August 2011, field reconnaissance of the two manganese prospects was conducted by Michael Green (consultant geologist) and new CEO of Northern Mining, Greg Wilson. The outcome of this reconnaissance trip was an exploration strategy to evaluate the manganese potential within tenement EL 24961 and Northern Mining's adjacent tenure.en_US
