Abstract: The leases were explored by Geopeko under joint venture agreement with CRAE during 1982-83 to test the potential for economic stratabound gold mineralisation associated with exhalitive banded iron formations and tourmalinites in the Koolpin Formation. Geopeko carried out soil, rock chip and costean sampling together with detailed geologic mapping. Anomalous gold values were recorded but not over significant widths of economic strike extent. The potential for economic gold mineralisation within the leases has been severely downgraded. Geopeko's geochemical results, though generally anomalous, are considered uneconomic. As the area lacks structural settings considered favourable for accumulation of significant gold mineralisation title should be surrendered. Soil sampling of the 'C' horizon was undertaken at 20m intervals along lines spaced approximately l00m apart. A 25m x 200m grid, tied to a previous Peko grid, was established concurrently with this work. Detailed geologic mapping was completed over the area with rock chip samples taken at l00m intervals along favourable stratigraphic horizons.
