Abstract: | All known workings within the confines of the Wandie Project Area have been investigated by first pass geological mapping and rock chip sampling. Soil sampling programs were also completed at two of the prospects (Last Hope and Tableland). The generally poor exposure in the vicinity of most prospects means that any further investigation requires trenching and/or drilling of target zones defined by geology and rock chip and soil geochemistry. All of the gold prospects examined require further evaluation, at varying levels of priority. Results from both the Last Hope and Tableland prospects, where the most detailed work has been completed, have defined significant areas of surface gold mineralisation. Percussion drill- testing of these areas was planned for late 1987 but has been postponed until the 1988 field season. Regional mapping and sampling of areas beyond the defined prospects was commenced, with limited initial success. A pilot stream sediment study, using both conventional stream sediment and bulk cyanide leach techniques, suggested that these methods had little potential to aid exploration at Wandie. |
