Abstract: MA 28351 is located on the northern margin of the Alice Springs 1:250,000 map sheet approximately 145km by road northeast of Alice Springs, NT. The Mud Tank tenement lies within the Strangways Metamorphic Complex (Arunta Province). The Mud Tank carbonatite complex lies within an arcuate east to northeast trending fault zone approximately 85km north north east of Alice Springs. Production from the Mud Tank mine commenced in the last quarter of 1995 with first sales of vermiculite in December 1995. Production from 1995 to 2003 produced 70,000 tonnes of vermiculite, which grossed 22 million dollars. This operation is now closed and is in the process of being rehabilitated. Previous exploration over the area included work by Geopeko, Flinders Diamonds and later Maximus Resources. All available open file data and reference material was reviewed during Year 1 exploration for the Mud Tank tenement MA 28351. Ground checking of previous exploration activity and prospecting was also carried out. After further review work, it has been decided to relinquish MA 28351.
