EL 25601 Nancy Hill, Annual and final report 20 April 2011 to 19 June 2013

Abstract

Following a survey undertaken by the Traditional Owners, the Central Land Council issued a Sacred Site Clearance Certificate in respect of DYL's reconnaissance and drilling programmes. A review of past exploration programmes over the Ti Tree Basin indicated some potential for deep ISL (in-situ leach) sand targets; however the available downhole radiometric data showed no significant radiometric anomalism at redox fronts; thus downgrading the potential for deep ISL/rollfront-geometry plays. The lack of any obvious airborne radiometric targets within the alluvium-covered tenement area necessitated a broad-acre shallow drilling approach to generate ongoing drill targets. An initial 1000 metre aircore drilling programme was designed to test the young, shallow sediments of the Tea-Tree basin for secondary uranium mineralisation hosted in calcretes and/or palaeochannels. This programme was sited to use existing, E-W oriented tracks to intercept any north-flowing paleodrainage. The extreme NW tenement boundary was also highlighted as a zone of interest; being the most distal depocentre with respect to the upland source areas. Such an area might be host to a buried saline playa lake or delta, similar to the uraniferous discharges into Lake Lewis. The drilling programme was not completed during the 2012 field season as DYL was unable to raise funds in a unfavourable market in mid-2012. DYL completed a fundraising later in the year; however, it was too late in the field season to conduct the planned drilling programme. Following a decision to divest its interests in Australia, DYL lodged an outright surrender in respect of EL 25601, effective 19 June 2013.
