Year 3 Annual and final, Mt Ewing EL 27848, 11 August 2010 to 24 April 2013

Abstract

The following report is a combined Annual and Final Report for EL 27848, known to NRE as the 'Mt Ewing Prospect'. NRE has carried out a detailed geological assessment of its Mt Ewing Prospect. NRE's exploration rationale and objectives for its Mt Ewing Prospect considered the evaluation of phosphate and base metal mineralisation. The detailed desktop geological assessment of the Mt Ewing Prospect led to the following up of possible shallow phosphate and base metal mineralisation by a helicopter reconnaissance program. Prior to conducting this reconnaissance program, NRE compiled all publically available data, reviewed historical exploration reports and obtained and interpreted imagery over the license in order to delineate targets for field assessment. NRE identified a majority of the reconnaissance exploration targets for EL 27848 from the processing of ASTER data over the tenure. Sites were tested using a scintillometer with geological observations being recorded at each target site. NRE's exploration activities have included investigation and research of the helicopter reconnaissance program in order to assess the prospectivity of the region. Based on the exploration activities conducted on EL 27848, NRE believes that no further exploration is warranted at this time. NRE made application to the Department to completely surrender the entire title for EL27848 under section 103 of the Mineral Titles Act. EL 27848 was surrendered on 24 April 2013. NRE believes that there is no rehabilitation required in relation to EL 27848 as no field based activities have been undertaken within the tenure nor have any works involving land disturbance been carried out during the term of the licence.
