Year: 2013
Author: Benger, J
Abstract: EL 29016 was granted to Imperial Granite & Minerals Pty. Limited on 18 September, 2012 for a period of six (6) years. Proposed work to be carried out was to examine a possible occurrence of Potch Opal which then may have led to the discovery of Precious Opal. This premise was based on exploration work carried out by the author in previous years seeking Manganese in the general area of EL29016. A helicopter visit to the EL on 17 May,2013 showed no sign of Potch Opal at the specific area of interest. What had been previously thought to be possibly Potch Opal was actually very fine grained Silcrete on close examination. The EL was decided to be of no further interest to Imperial and was surrendered on 2 June, 2013. Total expenditure for EL 29016 was $5000.00 for helicopter hire, airfare and accommodation.
