In March 2012 CKA Resources Pty Ltd submitted a successful application for collaboration with the NT Government to drill test a significant gravity target beneath the Georgina Basin Sediments (Anomaly F). This target was interpreted as a possible Olympic Dam style IOCG gravity anomaly. Subsequently, approval was given by the department for CKA to drill the nearby gravity anomaly D which was interpreted to have a much shallower depth to 'top of body' than Anomaly F. A single diamond hole, CKAD0001, was drilled in October 2012 to a total depth of 760m with an RC precollar of 334m. A total of 54 RC samples were taken (sampling of diamond core will be completed after DME Geoscience Hylogging). One petrology sample was taken from the EOH. CKAD0001 successfully drilled through the Georgina Basin Cambrian cover and into underlying basement rocks at 600m. This depth is much shallower than that previously intersected in BMR13, 18km to the SE (which intersected basement at approximately 1,000m). The hole passed through Arrinthrunga Formation, Arthur Creek Formation and Red Heart Dolostone of the Georgina Basin before intersecting ultramafic/mafic basement rocks at 603m. The ultramafic units have been cut by numerous porphyry dykes with weak to moderate sulphide content. A significant shear was intersected at 740m (interpreted to be associated with the Putta Putta Fault Zone). Drilling has demonstrated that the gravity anomaly D is caused by dense ultramafic/mafic basement rocks within less dense basement rocks (eg granites) beneath the carbonate sediments of the Georgina Basin. It is expected that anomaly F is a similar body with a similar depth. The presence of kimberlitic pipes, MVT type deposits and IOCG mineralisation at the Ooratippra project has not been eliminated by this program but CKA001 has provided significant insight into the analysis and SG of the gravity anomalies in the region and the nature of the basin geometry. Significant disseminated sulphides, mafic compositions and structures intersected in the hole suggest potential for the discovery of mineralisation, however further analysis is required on rock compositions and the metal content of the sulphides before the potential can be adequately assessed.en_US
