Title: | Partial relinquishment report for EL 24987 Karinga Creek |
Title Holder / Company: | Rum Jungle Resources |
Report id: | CR2012-0777 |
Tenure: | EL24987 |
Year: | 2012 |
Author: | Dunster, J Doyle, N |
Abstract: | EL 24987 is part of Rum Jungle Resources' Karinga Creek potash project. Exploration is targeting potassium-, magnesium- and sulfate-salts in salt lakes brines to produce potassium sulfate (SOP) and potassium magnesium sulfate (schoenite) fertiliser probably using solar evaporation ponds. The eastern portion of EL 24987, totalling 54 blocks, has been relinquished. Data acquired by Rum Jungle Resources over the relinquished portion includes two near-surface brine samples from Cloughs Lake, four air core holes from Mulga Dam Lake, night-time ASTER infrared thermal and SPOT 5 imagery. A remote-sensing study did little to enhance the prospectivity of eastern EL 24987. The brine samples indicated little or no potential for schoenite or potash in the relinquished portion. |
