Abstract: | Four field trips were made to the EL. The first in early April was to include a geologist and field staff but was abandoned after vehicles continually became bogged due to the prolonged wet season. Three further trips were made with mixed results. The bulk of the lease is covered by gold bearing shallow fan alluvials. Two field trips were made in July / August during which stream bed and general samples were collected over most of the lease with the samples being dollied, screened and panned off. Considerable time was spent around previous lease 1414 which is apparently the only hard rock deposit on the lease. Rock chip samples were collected along the line of the gold bearing reef and assayed at NAL Laboratories with rather poor results of 0.22 to 0.34 ppm Au. Soil sampling was carried out at 5mtr intervals along a NS line 100mtres below the reef and 100mtrs long, from S20 46.915 / E135 01.130 to S20 46.925 / E135 01.226. When assayed these samples returned a nil result Au. In November a burn-off in the adjoining Davenport Range National Park got out of control and burnt out most of the eastern part of the lease up to the Lennee Creek. A visit was made to this area together with a number of Metal Detectorists but the result was poor and this section is being dropped. |
