Abstract: | In 2007 AFMECO competed a Helicopter-borne time-domain electromagnetic survey (72 line-km flown in the relinquished area), an airborne radiometric and magnetic survey (188 line-km flown in the relinquished area) and an airborne hyperspectral mapping survey. Much of the work completed on EL 23934 by Northern Minerals and Areva has focused on defining potential unconformity-type uranium targets for further exploration. Within the relinquished area, the work completed to date has downgraded the potential for this type of deposit to occur. Furthermore, the presence of Birrindudu Basin sediments, and possibly Antrim Plateau Volcanics, covering the underlying Tanami Group makes gold exploration within the relinquished area more problematic and expensive. As no priority targets were identified during the targeting exercise, Northern Minerals has decided to surrender the area. |
