Title: Annual report for EL 25299 Port Dorisvale Project
Title Holder / Company: Sipa Exploration
Report id: CR2008-0942
Tenure: EL25299
Year: 2008
Author: Doepel, MG
Abstract: EL 25299 was granted to David Zohar on 12 December 2007. It had been applied for by Mr Zohar along with ELA 25303 on 12 April 2006. Sipa Exploration NL (Sipa) entered into an Option and Farm-in Agreement on EL 25299 and ELA 25303 with Mr Zohar on 9 June 2006. The Director of Titles - NT Titles Division Minerals and Energy was notified of the Option and Farm-in by letter dated 16 April 2007. In addition, Sipa had applied for the other EL's (25335, 25336 and 25337) contiguous with, and to the southeast of, ELA 25303 in April 2006. EL 25335 was surrendered in January 2009 and ELA's 25336 and 25337 were withdrawn at the same time. Sipa had applied for the three EL's to cover the southeasterly strike extensions of several 'Uranium Channel' Anomalies detected by Sipa during reprocessing of NT public domain radiometric data sets within ELA 25303. Open file research had shown that the largest of these anomalies corresponds with the historic Dorisvale Lead Zinc Prospect discovered in the 1970's. A number of Mineral Explorers, in particular Euralba Mining NL, Secured Loans and Development Pty Ltd and A.O. (Australia) Pty Ltd (a wholly owned subsidiary of Ashton Mining Ltd) explored Dorisvale in the late 1970's and early 1980's for first basemetals and later for Uranium and diamonds. A.O. Australia Pty Ltd's work in 1980 included flying airborne magnetics and gamma ray spectrometer surveys. The radiometric survey detected anomalies associated with the Dorisvale Lead Zinc Prospect and follow up rock sampling detected anomalous uranium values of up to 320 ppm along with anomalous lead and zinc of up to 8.5% and 1.7% respectively, over some 12 km of strike. Thirteen vertical diamond drill holes to test for basemetals and uranium intersected weak mineralisation. A summary of all past exploration along with a discussion of significant results is presented in Brauhart, February 2007, Dorisvale Project Information Memorandum (Appended to the 2007/2008 EL 25335 Annual Report lodged by Sipa 8 September 2008). The 'Uranium Channel' Anomalies situated in ELA 25303, lie within the Upper Daly Aboriginal Land Trust. A first meeting was held with Traditional Owners from the Land Trust, Northern Land Council and Department of Regional Development, Primary Industry, Fisheries and Resources representatives at Kybrook Farm on 29 May 2008 to progress land access for ELA 25303. That meeting recommended that negotiations for exploration access should proceed. A subsequent meeting was held at the Department of Regional Development, Primary Industries, Fisheries and Resources on 17 June 2008 with Department and Northern Land Council personnel to examine the possibility of gaining access for purposes of Survey and Reconnoitre, as allowed under Section 11 of the Act. Further discussions with the Northern Land Council resulted in an Agreement for Sipa to undertake several days of geological reconnoitre, along with nominated Traditional Owners, before the end of 2008. This survey took place in late September. Evaluation of results in late 2008 provided no encouragement for further work and hence the Sipa EL was surrendered and the Sipa ELA's withdrawn. Mr Zohar has been notified that Sipa has withdrawn from the Option and Farmin Agreement. It had always been Sipa's view that that field exploration on EL 25299 would only be warranted if land access for exploration was achieved on the contiguous ELA 25303 and then, only if results from reconnaissance on ELA 25303 were encouraging. Hence, no field exploration was carried out on EL 25299 in the Reporting Period.
