Abstract: | Jinka Plain - No ecomomic mineralisation was found in the areas mapped. Only one small pod of garnet-edidote-quartz rock was found. Several lenses of quartz-epidote-amphibolite rock were located but these do not appear to be of interest. To the west of Samarkand, two substantial lenses containing scheelite were found. Lens 1 consists of epidote calc-silicate about 150m x 10-15m wide. Lamping revealed approximately 50m of fairly good disseminated, fine grained mineralisation (0.5 to 0.8% WO3 est) over widths of 5-10m. Lens 2 consists of altered amphibolite approximately 200m long by 10m wide. It is generally weakly mineralised although at its north-western end fair mineralisation occurs for 50m. A number of rock samples were taken from the fluorite reefs and assaying completed. White Violet - Point sampling of costeans 2 and 3 has been completed and that for costean 1 has commenced. To date 96 samples have been sent for assay. Results show patchy mineralisation. Damascus - A chip sampling program has commenced on the Damascus skarn rocks. Samples have been collected every 5 metres along the main skarn zone covering the width of the skarn and each sample is approximately 5lbs. The total number of samples taken so far is 149. Samarkand - Assay results of further trench samples continued to be low. This was not totally unexpected as much of the skarn material though which the trenches were cut showed only 3 trace amounts of scheelite. Mineralised trends in the surface outcrops appeared discontinuous in the trenches showing the very erratic nature of the mineralisation along strike. Higher than background values are restricted to linear skarn trends. Approximately 70 samples have been collected and submitted for assay. Kings Legend - A chip sampling programme begun. To date a total of 235 samples have been collected and submitted to the laboratory for analysis. These have been collected from zones 1 to 3 mentioned in last months report, and zones 4-6 which are located north and south of Johannsens Pillar. A mobile laboratory was set up to clear a large backlog of samples. |
