Title: Progress reports on AP 2654, 1970 to 1972
Title Holder / Company: Peko Mines
Report id: CR1972-0109
Tenure: AP2654
Year: 1972
Author: Williams, BT
Abstract: Monthly reporting on AP 2654 is as follows; 11/03/1970 to 07/04/1970 - The second hammer drill hole (Explorer 15 Hole 3) was drilled to a depth of 280 feet and 5 feet of core taken from the bottom. This sections have been prepared from rock chips taken from Holes 2 and 3 and a study made of these. Samples have been submitted for geochemical determination. 08/04/1970 to 05/05/1970 - The survey grid over the Explorer 81 prospect has been completed and is ready for a magnetometer survey. The gravity survey at Explorer 15 will be commenced as soon as the dries after the recent rain. 06/05/1970 to 02/06/1970 - The gravity survey at Explorer 15 has been delayed pending the completion of the gravity work at Explorer 1. Magnetic results from Explorer 81 are being analysed. 03/06/1970 to 30/06/1970 - The planned gravity survey for the Explorer 15 prospect has not yet been started mainly due to problems with the gravity meter. The programme should now be started early in the new period. 01/07/1970 to 28/07/1970 - The gravity over Explorer 15 prospect has been completed and the results are being analysed. A magnetometer survey over the Explorer 81 grid was also completed. 23/09/1970 to 20/10/1970 - An SP survey over the lines recently covered by gravity at the Explorer 15 prospect is in progress. 21/10/1970 to 17/11/1970 - The SP survey over the Explorer 15 prospect has been completed. Results are being studies. 10/02/1971 to 09/03/1971 - Work has commenced in the area on a search for possible lime deposits to supply lime requirements at the copper smelter under construction near Warrego. 10/03/1970 to 06/04/1971 - Lime deposits of potential have been located in the area. Extensions to the Explorer 15 grid are being pegged to enable auger drilling of the deposits. 07/04/1971 to 04/05/1971 - Fifteen auger holes have been drilled for lime samples in the eastern part of the AP. Sample results are not yet to hand. Trial resistivity traverses over the Explorer 15 body have been completed. Further resistivity work is planned. 22/09/1971 to 19/10/1971 - During recent discussions it was decided to carry out a large scale resistivity survey over the Explorer 15 prospect. The application of this method has been delayed pending its trial and standardisation of the survey techniques at Ranger 1. It is hoped that the survey can now be started in December. It was also decided to include this area in a proposed low level aeromagnetic survey over part of AP 3387 to the south. 09/02/1972 to 07/03/1972 - Aeromagnetic results obtained from Bridge Oil are still being studied, but it appears that they show little new information about the magnetic anomaly at Explorer 15.
