Abstract: | King River (EL 25304) is located 16 km south west of Katherine the Northern Territory. This Annual Technical Report documents the 2007/2008 exploration program conducted at King River (EL25304) by Red River Resources (RVR). David Zohar is the owner of the tenement. RVR is the tenement operator. Red River has an agreement with the owner whereby it effectively owns 100% of the beneficial exploration rights. Red River Resources first year activities included literature research, field and access reconnaissance, GIS database and drafting. A number of interesting anomalies were defined and require follow up in subsequent years. EL 25304 is located within the Daly Basin, a Palaeozoic-Mesozoic intracratonic basin unconformably overlying the Palaeoproterozoic Pine Creek orogen. On the prospect scale, the geology is dominated by a NW sequence of sediments forming the Daly River Group (Ordovician Oolloo limestone and Jinduckin Formation dolomitic - siliclastic siltstone. Cretaceous sandstones outcrop unconformably in the south west of the tenement. Barite, fluorite and indications of base metals and gold have been reported from the Tindall Limestone. Several authors (Webby 1974, Shergold et al. 1985) have suggested the Tindall-Jinduckin contact is possibly unconformable. Sipa Resources (2007) note that uranium grades upto 320 ppm U occur with lead and zinc mineralisation in Lower Cambrian dolomites and siltstones on tenements to the west. These rocks belong to the same formations as seen on EL 25304. |
