Title Holder / Company: Central Pacific Minerals
Report id: CR1971-0166
Tenure: AP2282
Year: 1971
Author: Ivanac, JF
Abstract: Samples collected from the Goyder Formtion earlier in the year have been microscopically examined and found to consist of a white to grey, fine to medium grained sandstone. No indications of dolomite have been seen. Estimated expenditure to the end of June, 1971 amounted $4179 out of a total of $199,998 spent on exploration in the Northern Territory for 1971. This does not include capital equipment and plant needed to service the various projects. The company is currently making a re-assessment of the area in terms of strata-bound copper stratigraphy and its correlation with geochemical data obtained during previous ground ispections by company geologists. The evaluation of the data collected previously, showed that further brief inspection was warranted, although the results were not to exciting. Geochemical traverses have been plotted and show a congretation of uranium values higher than background located both in the stairway sandstone and the overlying undifferentiated tertiary sandstone. It is planned to fly a low level scintillometer surve over the Johnny Creek area during May. Following this, any areas of interest will be inspected on the ground along with those already delineated by the geochemical work.
