Abstract: | Exploration during the reporting period commenced on 24 April, with three weeks spent undertaking reconnaissance over selected areas of EL 24639. During April exploration was focussed on locating radiometric anomalies, mapping and rock chipping of lithologies prospective for uranium, particularly within the south-eastern portion of the tenement. A scintillometer was rented from Southern Geoscience in Perth for the period, and was used to field-check several low-level uranium radiometric anomalies. Background readings were found to vary from 150-200cps. Eleven uranium radiometric anomalies (R1 to R11) were chosen from the Litchfield North radiometric images downloaded from the DPIFM website. Three aeromagnetic anomalies were also field-checked (M1 to M3). Literature review highlighted the potential for fine grained sediments/schists in the Welltree Metamorphics to host uranium mineralisation in favourable structural traps. Historical exploration by the NTGS and current explorers are targeting secondary structures within the Welltree Metamorphics Follow up rock chipping of the Well Tree Metamorphic unit and additional stream sediment samples along the flood plains of the Finniss River were carried out during September and October to assess potential sites for uranium mineralization. Three bulk soil samples were collected from the previously identified radiometric anomalies located near Mt Fitch and within 'black soil' horizons. These black soil models for uranium mineralisation are currently being tested in Tanzania with impressive results. A total of 17 rock chip samples and 3 stream sediment samples were collected during the 2007 field season. Samples were sent to Kalgoorlie Assay Laboratories in Midvale Perth. |
