Abstract: The Western Area Project comprises Exploration Licences 8591 'Brown's Dome' and 9777 'Monitor' and is situated approximately 700 km northwest of Alice Springs, in the north-western portion of the Tanami Desert close to the border to Western Australia. Both tenements were granted to AngloGold Australia Limited ('Anglogold') on 11 June 2002 and were purchased by Tanami Exploration NL (TENL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Tanami Gold NL ('TGNL'), a publicly listed company in June 2005. EL 8591 and EL 9777 were both surrendered on 10 June 2007. Exploration was carried out initially by Anglogold and then TENL. No field exploration was carried out on EL9777. On EL8591 no significantly elevated results for gold were returned from the rock chip sampling nor the lag sampling by Anglogold. TENL successfully relocated and sampled a gossan at Brown's Dome, which reportedly assayed up to 12g/t Au according to previous explorers. Assay results up to 1.31g/t Au and 2,332ppm As were returned and confirmed the presence of anomalous gold and arsenic values in the area.
