Abstract: | The Meikinj Valley project comprises three Exploration Licences located in west Arnhem Land, which were granted to Cameco Australia Pty Ltd (Cameco) for a period of six years, on August 31, 2005. The primary target of Cameco's exploration activity is 'unconformity-style' uranium mineralisation. The initial work clearance meeting was not held until July 24 2006, almost a year after grant. The delayed work clearance meeting, in combination with extensive damage sustained by the field base at Myra Camp during Cyclone Monica in late April meant that no field exploration was conducted during the first year of tenure. The only work conducted was a review of previous exploration and target identification. |
