Abstract: | Exploration Licence (EL) 23686 was granted on the 13th of February 2004 for a period of six years. At the end of the second year of tenure ground was relinquished because of statutory requirements. The ground was reduced from 285 sub blocks (940.1 km2) to 114 sub blocks (374.8 km2). Exploration work conducted on the relinquished ground during the initial period consisted of: Literature research of previous exploration, geological and geophysical surveys over the EL and surrounding district, Data compilation, Acquisition and interpretation of departmental geological and airborne geophysical data sets, Research on the geology and exploration signatures encountered in the district, including discussion with former Ashton Mining personnel. The relinquished ground consists predominantly of Timber Creek Formation (dolomitic siltstones/sandstones) and Jasper Gorge Sandstones. No on ground work was completed but a helicopter survey is proposed during November of this year for the retained portion of the Exploration Licence. |
