Abstract: | Interpretation of NTGS mapping and reconnaissance work indicate that the EL consists predominately of ridge forming Short Range Sandstone and units of the Morphett Creek Formation. These units are located beneath the interpreted favourable horizon. There are no recorded occurrences of outcropping manganese in the EL. Work completed during the term of the EL included desktop review of published data in 2004 and a field reconnaissance survey in 2005. There was no activity in 2006 other than to review data collected and recommend the EL be surrendered. The field reconnaissance survey was conducted by Arnhem Exploration and Rural Services ground checking the EL for manganese occurrences on 500m spaced eastwest lines. The southern portion of the EL covers several large north-south sandstone ridges and the northern portion covers one major sandstone ridge leading onto a plateau with a low lying sand covered area to the east of the sandstone. No occurrences of manganese were noted, though there are sum small sub-crops of iron rich sandstone in the south east area of the EL and minor iron staining at the western end of several traverses. |
