Systematic Phase 1 regional geochemical soil sampling across EL 9701 in May-June, 2005 identified coherent zone of possible low-level gold-in-soil anomalism over an area of about six square kilometres. A more closely-spaced systematic geochemical soil sampling program (Phase 2A) was undertaken in March- April, 2006 to further test the low-level gold anomalism. A total of 137 samples were collected from 131 sites at 50 metres intervals along 250 metres spaced northsouth lines in Phase 2A. A 500g sample of -2 millimetre soil fraction was collected from the B/C Horizon at each site and analysed for low-level Au. No samples were collected from within exclusion zones around Aboriginal sacred sites as advised by the Central Land Council. Results of 3-13 ppb Au are considered possibly anomalous and confirm the results of Phase 1 geochemical soil sampling. A total of seven Phase 1 sites were re-sampled during Phase 2A. Results indicate that the possibly anomalous low-level gold values obtained in Phase 1 samples are repeatable. Overall, both Phase 1 and Phase 2A soil sampling programs at Frew River have not been successful in defining significant high-level gold anomalism. However despite this, Phase 1 and Phase 2A soil sampling programs indicate a broad 1000 by 500 metres zone of low-level gold anomalism that may warrant additional infill soil sampling. This low-level Au-in-soils anomaly is still open to the east and northeast.en_US
