| Abstract: | Tanami Gold NL identified the potential for Palaeoproterozoic gold mineralisation in the basement rocks of the Napperby and Reynolds Range areas in 2001. EL 23486 'Ingallan Creek' was initially part of the Napperby Project, but was later added to the Reynolds Range Project. The tenement was granted on 23 December 2002 to Tanami Exploration NL (TENL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Tanami Gold NL (TGNL), a publicly listed company. On the 22 November EL 23486 was surrendered. This report describes exploration carried out on EL 23486 from date of grant to date of surrender. EL 23486 lies in Central Australia approximately 225 km north-northeast of Alice Springs. It is situated at the boundary of the Arunta Region and Southern Georgina Basin and is within the Mount Peake 1:250,000 Geological Sheet. Exploration consisted of a regional desk top study and field reconnaissance with one rockchip sample taken on EL 23486. No elevated gold value was returned. A considerable part of the tenement is covered by deep Cainozoic and younger sediments, and so drilling would be required to test the most prospective underlying bedrocks. |
