Abstract: | The exploration target for EL7020 is a McArthur River style base metal deposit. This model was based on similarities in sedimentary style of the two areas suggesting a similar depositional environment. Interpretation of regional aeromagnetics provides a picture of disturbed basement, possibly block faulted, with subsequent sedimentation mirroring this. A coincident gravity high and magnetic anomaly is of interest. 105 stream sediment samples were collected in March 1991. Anomalous base metal values occur in the Hunter Creek Area where pyritic black shales (?Barney Creek Formation equivalent) subcrop. Anomalous Cu-Pb value trending NW-SE across the headwaters of the Curruther Creek correspond to outcrop of manganiferous stromatolitic dololutites and dolostones (? Toogininie Formation and Amelia Dolomite equivalents). The results in the Curruthers Creek area reflects results of previous explorers. A Sirotem survey (23,300m loops) undertaken in the Hunters Creek Area failed to locate a buried conductor in the area and downgrades the prospectivity of the area for a base metal sulphide deposit. Structural features reported include: Hunter Creek Sub-basin. |
