Abstract: | Follow up of anomalous stream catchments outlined by work previously completed by WMC revealed a 20m thick interbedded black shale-dolomite horizon with minor-trace pyrite, galena and sphalerite within the Mallabah Dolomite. Maximum rock chip assay for this unit was 1.58% Zn. A reconnaissance Sirotem survey over the area showed that this unit would be amenable to an airborne EM survey. 5 percussion and two diamond drill holes were drilled in the Swan Yard region. The holes appear to intersect the same lithologies over an area of 5 kms suggesting that the Mallabah Formation and enclosed black shale were deposited in a broad extensive basin of shelf setting. |
