Abstract: | A ground magnetic survey was carried out over two discrete magnetic anomalies outlined during an earlier aeromagnetic survey. The survey confirmed the presence of these two anomalies of 300-400 nT. Ground examination shows the southern magnetic anomaly corresponds to an outcropping sequence of magnetic fine grained sandstone with narrow quartz-magnetite-haematitic veins. The second anomaly corresponds to hornfelsed sediments adjacent to the McKinlay Granite. Both anomalies are believed to have resulted from contact metamorphism with the McKinlay Granite. 75 soil samples were collected over the southern magnetic anomaly. Results were disappointing and further work is not deemed warranted. |
