Abstract: | The results of a reconnaissance stream sediment programme previously carried out disclosed a number of low order lead, zinc and copper anomalies, with very few higher order anomalies. Investigation of some of the highest lead values showed that these are mainly related to quartz veins with angular chlorite(?) fragments which contain high, but uneconomic lead values. Two high lead values appear to be related to zones of greisenisation near a granite contact. Higher zinc values followed up were found to be related to high local background values in surrounding rocks. There appears to be little or no likelihood that these low order anomalies are related to economic base metal sulphide mineralisation. One small area where a high order lead and moderate order copper anomaly was obtained during follow up work, could be investigated further. |
