Title: Report on exploration within AP1138 during 1968
Title Holder / Company: BHP Minerals
Report id: CR1969-0006
Tenure: AP1138
Year: 1969
Author: McGregor, GW
Abstract: During 1968, activity on AtP 1138 comprised field mapping, detailed stream sediment sampling, soils sampling and shallow drilling using a Landrover-mounted Proline auger rig. Four areas termed GCAI to GCAIV were tested; the first was a lead target and the others zinc. Of the four areas investigated, two anomalous areas warrant further drilling, GCAII and GCAIII. Drilling should be carried out to determine if high values of zinc and lead occur with depth and are not just surface enrichments. An aerial scintillometer survey is recommended to test the potentially uraniferous Strawbridge Breccia, Gwakura Sandstone and Buckingham Bay Sandstone.
