Abstract: | The report presents the results of a round robin survey using 31 samples and four reference standards from Coronation Hill to six laboratories. It is concluded that all laboratories carried out acceptable gold and palladium analysis. The lab in use for routine Coronation Hill assays was found to be giving low values for platinum. Results for Pt show high variability at all laboratories. There was some indication of inhomogeneity, particularly in Au. CSIRO has done some experimental analysis using particle induced X-ray emission (PIXE) which gave indications of 3.5g/t Ru, 0.5g/t Rh and 2g/t Ir in reference materials made from Coronation Hill material. The report contains a good discussion of analytical procedures and potential problems in analysis of Pt group metals. |
