Abstract: | This internal BHP memo discusses a comparison of Au, Pt, and Pd results obtained from 23 samples analysed using three different laboratories or methods: Laboratory 1 is Analabs using the current methods employed to analyse Coronation Hill core; Laboratory 2 is Pilbara Labs Perth using the methods used in 1986; Laboratory 3 is Pilbara Labs Perth using the same methods as those being employed by Analabs. Of note, and of most surprise is the observation that variability of Au analyses far exceeds that of Pt and Pd. The memo notes that it is hard to draw conclusions from the very small data set, and suggests that reference standards be submitted with sample batches to monitor the precision of the precious metals assays and variability between laboratories. |
