Abstract: Initial creek sampling over the project area indicated that sections of the Florence Creek contained potentially economic garnet bearing alluvial and detrital deposits. In addition, Irindina Gneiss thought to be suitable for the extraction of coarse-grained hard-rock garnet. However, due to the localised nature of garnet concentrations in the Irindina Gneiss which are generally randomly distributed, prevented further progress on the hard rock resources. Two zones in the Florence Creek were sampled, yielding garnet grades up to as high as 6.41%, which makes the alluvial garnet as the prime target. This requires a refocused mineralogical examination of the Florence Creek garnetiferous sands. The Metallurgical and engineering studies of the project led to a revision of the processing methodology, so that the plant will now be entirely dry, and hence not dependent on appreciable volumes of water.
