Title: Report on EL 1605 Bynoe Tin Field
Title Holder / Company: Crawford, TR
Report id: CR1979-0024
Tenure: EL1605
Year: 1979
Author: Crawford, TR
Abstract: Activities relating to exploration of the above EL for the previous eleven months are as follows; 1) An expenditure in excess of $3,600.00. 2) The location of six unrecorded workings, all small. 3) The taking of ore assays from the face of two of these workings. 4) The taking of stream samples, alluvial and elluvium
samples has in general not given any encouraging resurts. Most
panning has produced only trace mineralisation. 5) A total of 130 man days has been expended in exploration on the lease, involving approximately some 14,000 km of travel. 6) Tentative conclusions reached are as follows; a) Gravity separation of the minerals in the area would only be possible with an extremely large throughput, even with the current price of tin. It is possible that a large dredging operation with rights to the surrounding areas would be profitable. Smaller scale operations would have to be limited to gravel-pump operations. b) The best prospect for economic extraction lies in the mining of the scattered and elusive pegmatite shoots. It is thought that sufficient numbers of these could occur to warrant a small scale operation, involving about six men.
