Abstract: | Exploration of the AP can be divided into three sections: a) Base metal exploration and diamond drilling. b) Scheelite exploration and diamond drilling. c) Scheelite and copper prospecting. Enclosed is a plan indicating all geological and geophyscal traverscs costeans, positions of diamond drill holes, and waterbores The geophysical work completed prior to granting of the AP was carried out by McPhar Geophysics Pty. Ltd, when an Induced Polarization and Resistivity Survey was made in 1965 using 400' and 500' dipole spacings. Their baseline has been used for all subsequent work. An additional survey was carried out for Petrocarb Exploration NL from January, 1970 to March 1971, concentrating on the Green Parrot and Marshall areas, and using l00' and 300' dipole spacings. During August, 1971, a ground magnetometer survey was made from 00, every 500' to 11,500S from east to west. The survey revealed general coincidence of visible mineralization, IP and vertical magnetometer anomalies. These magnetic effects are derived mainly from the association of rocks rich in magnetite with horizons favourable for mineralization. In addition a large number of localised magnetic anomalies occur over high magnetic rock horizons (mainly magnetite schists) and are not coincident with any IP effect or known mineralization. It is therefore stressed on this evidence and on that of a prior magnetometer survey, that magnetite is not considered a direct associate of the Jervois copper-lead mineralization. With the exception of the scheelite, present drilling has been concentrated in areas of good IP and Resistivity anomalies, namely the Pioneer H, A, and F areas. |
