Abstract: | On the granting of the license previous exploration was assessed in detail using information available from the Mines Branch. Photogeological studies were made and field work commenced with the ground checking of published maps and previously discovered anomalous zones. As a preliminary check on the radiometric anomaly north of Surprise Creek a measured grid was laid out commencing 600 metres north of the north branch of Surprise Creek and running south for 1.7 km. East-West cross lines were pegged 100 metres apart and were radiometrically surveyed. Rock and soil samples were taken in radiometrically anomalous areas and analyzed for uranium, copper, lead and zinc. Only background results were obtained. Samples were collected and sent to AMDEL for petrological study. Available samples from previous airtrack drilling were examined in detail, logged and sent for analysis. In the Dry season a more systematic program was commenced. A larger surveyed grid was established and detailed mapping and radiometric surveying carried out. |
