Title: AP 1378 Report Prospecting & Drilling Stuarts Bluff Area.
Title Holder / Company: Central Pacific Minerals
Report id: CR1968-0013
Tenure: AP1378
Year: 1968
Abstract: AP 1378 is 976 square miles in size located about 125 miles south-west of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory. Geological, geochemical and geophysical surveys proceeded the drilling of six holes to test magnetic and induced polarization anomalies associated with quartz-hematite breccias in the Stuart Bluff Range area. Economic concentrations of gold and base metals were not found. Consideration of the drilling results and the results of a chip sampling program covering all quartz-hematite breccias within the Authority suggests strongly that economic mineralisation is unlikely to be associated with the breccias. Scintillometer traverses throuhout the area have located anomalous radioactivity in conglomerates within the Vaughan Springs Quartsite at the western end of the Hann Range. Further exploration of this part of the Authority is recommended. This area also contains a small gold prospect which warrants further investigation.
