Abstract: The chip sampling around the pits demonstrated anomalous precious metals (Kerber, 1987: CR1987-0328), the field work reported here was completed, prior to the comprehensive compilation of all UUNL gold data from El Sherana/ El Sherana West, later completed by Porter (see CR1988-0468; CR1988-0471). Field activities reported here included mapping and sampling of accessible underground workings, more surface rock chip sampling, surveying of an extensive 40m by 40m grid, and a Diamond drill hole, ESDDH29, 144.5m deep. It is apparent from the analysis of previous data which was not collated at the time that the field work was done that higher grade precious metal mineralisation exists at El Sherana/ El Sherana West in a narrow fault controlled zone which trends north- west/ south- east through the two open pits. Most of the underground sampling did not encounter this zone because of rock falls. Results do confirm though an anomalous halo of gold +- PGM content in Koolpin Formation at the prospect. Strike extents to mineralisation have not yet been tested. Further rock chip and soil sampling along strike is recommended.
