Abstract: | The report presents the findings of a rock chip sampling programme for Au of Saddle Ridge open pit. Sampling was concentrated on the southern wall as the siltstones exposed there were hosts to the uranium mineralisation. 12 samples were taken. All results were less than or equal to the detection limit (0.005ppm Au), except one result of 0.012ppm Au. The results do not warrant further exploration for Au. It is recorded that virtually all of the mined uranium ore from Saddle Ridge was secondary, and it is postulated that the uranium has been remobilised from a primary deposit at the unconformity surface into the fault zone where it is located. Au was not transported with the uranium. The situation is similar at Scinto 6. No further gold exploration is recommended at these supergene deposits. However primary U mineralisation reported from a drill hole 280' below the surface should be tested for Au, and nearby prospects and anomalies also remain to be tested. These include Saddle Ridge South, Saddle Ridge East, Saddle Ridge East Extended, and Saddle Ridge North east. |
