Title Holder / Company: Tanami Exploration
Report id: CR2004-0430
Tenure: EL22916
Year: 2004
Author: Rohde, C
Abstract: EL 22916 'Ongeva' is situated in Central Australia about 100 kilometres northeast of Alice Springs. The tenement was granted in July 2002 to Tanami Exploration NL (TENL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Tanami Gold NL (TGNL). The main target on EL 22916 is iron oxide copper gold (IOCG) mineralisation of the Olympic Dam or Prominent Hill -style. Potential for epigenetic shear-hosted gold, Oonagalabi-style base metals and orthomagmatic mafic-ultramafic hosted PGE's was also assessed. This report describes exploration on EL 22916 from its grant date to its surrender on 11 June 2004. Exploration programs carried out by TENL on EL 22916 comprised regional mapping, regional reconnaissance, geophysical interpretation and target identification. Two rock chip samples and 14 lag samples were taken. No elevated results were received. Based on the above surface geochemistry results and the lack of major structures the tenement was recommended for surrender.
