Title: | Final report on EL 3340, Arnhem Land Project; period ending 13 May 2003 |
Title Holder / Company: | De Beers Australia Exploration |
Report id: | CR2003-0370 |
Tenure: | EL3340 |
Year: | 2003 |
Author: | Millikan, MI |
Abstract: | This report covers the exploration activities carried out over the retained portion of EL 3340 during the life of the licence. Work involved the collection of reconnaissance heavy mineral samples, the interpretation of a regional airborne magnetic/radiometric survey, the field inspection of the anomalies generated from these surveys and the drilling of a priority magnetic anomaly. During the sixth year of exploration the priority magnetic anomaly ALD021 was drilled. Unfortunately no rocks of interest were intersected and the tenement has been surrendered. The cause of the anomaly was found to be ferruginised sections within layers of unconsolidated sands, silts and clays. Hence there was no geochemical analysis completed on the drill core. |
