Title: Third annual report on EL 5954 Benda Bluff period ending 28 March 2002
Title Holder / Company: Rio Tinto Exploration
Report id: CR2002-0239

Year: 2002
Author: Bishop, SR
Abstract: Exploration by RTE in previous reporting periods identified a cluster of one macro diamond, three micro diamonds and chromite within a small drainage catchment. During the current reporting period this drainage catchment was tested with a helicopter-borne Hummingbird EM survey totaling 195 line km, covering a 6km by 3km area. None of the EM responses were interpreted to be sourced from kimberlite. Other micro diamond and indicator mineral occurrences within the tenement remain to be followed up in greater detail. The source of kimberlite indicator mineral occurrences within the tenement remains enigmatic. The project was reviewed and it was concluded that the project remains prospective for diamonds but there were no advanced targets of immediate interest to RTE. As a consequence of the review RTE decided to divest the project along the neighbouring tenements.
