Title: Final report of exploration for SEL 8497 - Union Consolidated for the period 20th April 1994 to 16th April 2001
Title Holder / Company: Anglogold Australia
Report id: CR2001-0254
Tenure: SEL8497
Year: 2001
Author: Large, P
Abstract: The report summarises exploration activities during the licence life that included gridding, soil sampling programs, posthole RAB drilling, vacuum drilling, detailed aerial magnetic and radiometric surveys and aerial photography interpretation. The maximum results the soil sampling in 1995 was a spot anomaly of 270 ppb Au. Reconnaissance showed the result was coincident with quartz veining within the metasediment. Sampling during 1997 and 1998 didn't return anomalous results. Results from sampling program carried out in 1997/1998 included isolated peak values of 450, 66, 60, and 55 ppb Au. Posthole RAB drilling program conducted in the southern portion of the Caledonian Alluvial Mine area confirmed that previous soil sampling had sampled anomalous alluvial soils shedding off Caledonian Creek. No encouraging results were returned from the vacuum drilling.
